A new idea: collapsible poles
Many Nordic Walkers love it so much they want to take their poles on vacation and business trips. That’s a great way to keep your aerobic health up.
If you own a pair of Nordic Walking poles, you know by now that they are not allowed on carry-on baggage. That’s easy to understand. It would be very easy to take the tips off and have a nice spear!
If you want to pack them, they can be bigger than your suitcase. Even diagonally. When I teach on Crystal cruises ships, I carry my clothes in a duffle bg. It’s an Eagle Creek soft bag that is pretty long.
I’ve dome up with a solution. LIEKI Vario poles. They are really hiking poles, but hear me now and listen to me later. They come in three sections that are held together with a “bungee” type cord. They fold over to about a foot in length – 3 sections that fit easily into a suitcase. They are sold with a polypro carry bag. Sweet. CLICK TO ENLARGE.
They easily go into a backpack.
Now, you’ll need to buy a pair of rubber tips. Hiking poles don’t come with rubber tips. You can buy them from LEKI for about $20 a pair (or cheaper from me). Pop them on and you are ready to go. The grips are straps – they are hiking poles after all – they are different and not optimal but they work fine. Remember you are NOT to grip them tightly anyway.
A bonus is that now you also have nice hiking poles. I use them.
The costs? Leki makes several Vario models. A good pair and the cheapest is the LEGACY LITE COR-TEC AS. $119.95 list. Contact me for discount info.
