Leki, of Germany, is the leading maker of Nordic Walking poles. Their flagship product is the Instructor model. As the name says, this pole is used in training classes as well as by graduates and beginners alike.
I teach Nordic walking on Crystal Cruise lines, and we have ten pair of Instructors on each of the two ships – the Serenity and Symphony. Sessions are held twice a day and are complimentary. This is the only line that does it. A good reason to sail with them. Eat then burn calories!
Leki will be rolling out a new Nordic Walking pole that borrows from their Trekking Pole line. The current pole is adjustable and is held in place by a twist lock. This allows people to share their poles or adjustment them as they wish to try different lengths. The new “Speedlock” has replaced the twist mechanism. See the photos – look for the white plastic device.
I have a pair of evaluation poles and I love them. Very quick to switch length. This is a quick way to store your poles in your trunk. It’s also handy when friends come over and you want to show them what Nordic Walking is all about.
The new pole is called the Instructor Lite SL2. Yes, it is a bit lighter! It will sell for the same list price of $149 list Contact me for discount info. It will be out soon, so stay tuned. **This is not available on the Traveller poles.
