Sometimes you may find that your poles may have a tendency to slip back when you are doing the push into the pavement. This may happen when the surface is wet. We experience this alot on the Crystal ships where we give Nordic Walking classes.hey hose down the decks before sunrise. The wooden Promenade Deck takes a while to dry out. There is nothing wrong with this and it is easily corrected. The reason is that your poles are tilted too much towards the ground. At a large angle the tips can’t grip as they do on a dry surface.

Just don’t push back the same way; rather have the pole a bit more vertical when you push. The ultimate vertical is straight up. You don’t need to go that far. Just find the angle that the pole begins to grip.

Don’t change you technique – don’t pick up the poles. Just swing your arms a bit more forward before the push back happens.

This should fix it.
