New study shows that walking inspires

A Stanford University study of 48 undergrads looked at how creative they would be if they took a hike vs just mulled over a challenge.

The experiment had them sit at a desk to come up with a innovative ideas to use buttons. Then they were put on a treadmill and told to walk at a moderate pace. Not running, but how they would normally walk.

81% came up with truly creative ideas on how a simple button could be used.

The results continued – they were even more creative if they continued to walk. It did not matter if the walks were on treadmills or outside. 48 is a very small sample size, but did those results surprise you?

No word on what the man-on-the-moon ideas were for the buttons. I think just fastening clothes is good enough!

Is there a message here for us Nordic Walkers??  YES – continue to use your poles and get even MORE benefits than are typically promoted.

Carpe Diem
