I always read the comments to this NordicWalkingFun.com blog. I like to share my knowledge and expertise.
If you are here, you were exposed to my YouTube video and tips.
Often I stare at the sun and try to come up with useful information. Yes, it gets hard. I covered the “greatest hits” in the video. But gems do hit me.
Yes, it can be a burden. I have 2 other websites – on Hiking and one on Public Speaking...so it’s a real time commitment between all three.
Occasionally, I get a shot of enthusiasm to keep me at it. Today is one.
I got this from a reader. Jazzed me up. Take a read – send your comments or criticisms.
From a REAL person (Jim):
I began watching the many NW videos on You Tube, when I saw your video. From my perspective, your video is absolutely the best video in terms of instructing the students all the finite details with learning the proper techniques to properly NW!! The open hand technique along with the pole dragging method appears to the right combination. I thought it best to buy the exact “instructor poles” as you utilize, so that I can benefit from them myself (my hand appears to be able to straighten the first thing in the morning). When I searched for the poles on Amazon I noted they had one pair left. I should have purchased them at that time, since I noted the next day when I decided to actually buy them, the poles were gone from Amazon. Not even Leki carries the poles in stock!
As an alternative, I noted that Leki sells fixed length poles, which have been the only pole I have utilized. I wanted your opinion on those poles. Also, what is your opinion on aluminum vs. carbon vs. alum/carbon combo contained in the poles?
I replied that the material doesn’t really matter. You are not jamming them… stressing the metal. Go with the cheaper ALU poles. Get the fixed length only if you are advanced and never want to adjust them or let others use them.
