I will be teaching a Nordic Walking class for the American Nordic Walking Association on Oct 9, 2015. It’s called a “workshop” and I will get you up and going … the correct way … during this intensive 4-hour class. You can become a full fledged Nordic Walker or press on to get your Instructor Certification. <<NOTE: This class is 10/9 – not 10/10 as listed on the ANWA website.>>
If you are interested enough to read this blog, and you want to take the leap – take this class. You can browse this site to check out the benefits of Nordic Walking.
We meet at 10 am in downtown Los Gatos. This foothill town is just west of San Jose on Highway 17. We set it up for a Friday … in Silicon Valley the traffic is “Friday Light.” This means the techies mostly take the day off or work from home.
Los Gatos is less than an hour south of San Francisco. I like it because we go down the quiet, shaded Los Gatos Creek Trail. I start off with a presentation on what Nordic Walking is all about and then we learn about the poles and basic technique. Now we hit the trail. Teach and learn. Some gentle uphills, some dirt, but mostly level asphalt walking trails. I will graphically show you that your heart rate will go up just by using the poles. Really. No more dangling your arms – burn 20% more calories with poles.
We break for lunch at a nice deli to go over things and get feedback. We progress to advanced techniques, cool down and a session on six basic stretches.
Our pace depends on how many sign up. It will be kept to less than 10 individuals, so I can focus ON YOU. I provide LEKI poles for all attendees. A shade hat, sneakers, and a water belt are needed.
Here’s the link. Sign up soon, so I know how many poles to bring. Once we confirm, I send out information and maps.
Drop me a note if you have questions.
